ABOUT PRIEURÉ SAINTE ANNE
Situated on the hillside overlooking the right bank of the Garonne, 20 km from Bordeaux, Le Prieuré Sainte Anne belongs to the AOC Côtes de Bordeaux. This appellation stretches along the river about 60 km from Bordeaux to Langon. Records show that wine has been produced here since the time of the Roman Empire. There are traces of Roman and medieval architecture on the terraced landscape. The Prieuré Sainte Anne is a former monastery on the pilgrimage road to Saint Jacques de Compostela, and is today the heart of the vineyard belonging to Herwig and Annelies Callewier-Corne.
The vineyard of Prieuré Sainte Anne benefits from deep gravelly clay soil whose slopes ensure excellent drainage. South facing, the vines enjoy the warm rays of all day summer sun. With a surface area of 4,5 hectares the vineyard is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
